Starro escapes from the ruined Jotunheim, taking out the Thinker and many military personnel while starting to dominate the island's inhabitants. Waller informs the squad that their mission is finished and instructs them to leave. However, Bloodsport rallies the team to confront Starro. Waller tries to execute them for this defiance, but her assistant Flo Crawley (Tinashe Kajese) knocks her out with a golf club. The rest of the team then helps guide the Squad in an effort to save the city. After Polka-Dot Man is killed by Starro, Harley manages to stab its eye, which allows Ratcatcher 2 to command the city's rats to eat Starro from the inside. The Squad's bravery gets broadcasted on the news, leading Tyla to recognize her father as a hero.
With the military distracted, Soria takes charge of the government and vows to hold democratic elections. Bloodsport blackmails Waller into freeing him and the remaining squad members while also dropping charges against Tyla in exchange for keeping the drive's information secret. Waller reluctantly complies, and the surviving squad members are airlifted out of Corto Maltese. It is later disclosed that Weasel, a member of the initial team, has survived and flees into the jungle. Waller punishes her subordinates by assigning them a new mission alongside Peacemaker, who is still alive and recuperating in a hospital.
